Cure epilepsy with the help of cord blood cells and tissue. This has been the intervention of the century that has helped many in getting rid of various chronic ailments.
Research conducted in Taiwan have found that stem blood cells and tissue can be helpful in treating epilepsy. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) found in Wharton’s jelly in umbilical cord stem blood cells and tissue. Three distinct group of Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this experiment. One is a control group contains normal rats. Second group were given pilocarpine to inject epileptic seizures with PBS injected into the hippo campus.
Results showed that the dorsal hippocampi of the second group (induced status epilepticus, no HUMSC) were smaller in volume than those of the first group (normal) and third group (induced SE, HUMSC transplantation). The group of SE rats that received HUMSC transplants experienced significantly decreased seizures compared to the group of SE rats that did not. The results “demonstrate the therapeutic benefits of HUMSC transplantation for the development of epilepsy, which are likely due to the ability of the cells to produce neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory cytokines” according to the abstract of the study.
Therefore, umbilical cord stem blood cells and tissue found to have miraculous in treating various significant illnesses like epilepsy, heart diseases etc. It is expected that sooner policy makers will get benefited from the richest potential of umbilical cord blood cells and tissue. This will help global community in addressing increasing health disparities in under-developed and developing countries.
Precisely, cord blood cells and tissue being immaculate in their potential to regenerate and repair muscles, nerve, brain, heart, blood cells and tissue contains conceivable prospects to deal with the global burden of disease. Besides, this will help each nation to address their own disease burden with the help of cord blood banking options both private and public.
